Doing It Again...Eggs Went in Hova Today (Candling Report Page 3)

Yes, I will get picks. He's about half blue and half buff right now. AND he has green eyes!

Green eyes? Those will change, I bet. Usually baby eyes change somewhat as they get older. Still, that would be cool if he kept green eyes.

Looking back at my notes for this hatch, I see that I put the first batch into the Hova at 12:30 p.m. on Dec 13 and counted the next day as Day One. That means that technically, Day 18 starts just after noon today! I have the hatcher regulated and ready to go so maybe around supper time, I'll transfer the nine eggs to the hatcher. That group of nine includes:

5 Blue Orp (3 Velvet, 2 Skye)
2 Barred Rock
2 Blue Orp/Buff Brahma

In three more days, 15 more eggs go into the hatcher and a few days after that, my lone egg from my young BR girl, Mandy.

I can't wait til these babies hatch, I am not being very patient for my eggs to hatch they're only on day 10. Don't forget to take tons of pics.

You were mentioning before you were running out of space for your varying ages of chicks. Do you still have the broody pen? Could you use that?

I sure could use it for a few of them except that currently Hawkeye is sleeping in it every night so his wattles can heal up from his pecking women. He does okay freeranging, but when he's cooped up with them, they get him bleeding all over again. I watch Becca, Amanda and Meg just walk up to him, grab and yank!
It's good idea, Corey, one I had myself. If I can manage to get ol' Hawk living with his women again, I'll definitely do that. Good luck on your hatch!
