Doll clothes

Hello.
My little girl will be getting a doll for christmas. I am starting to knit a home made dress for her doll. The size and kind of doll is very similar to the "american girl" collection series. So its def not a baby kind of doll, if that makes sense.
Has anybody made home made doll clothes? I just started this, I am going to make just a few items, so she has something to start out with. I know I am already in December (sigh). Any pictures or websites to share is much appriciated! I Hope my daughter will appricate the hard work I am putting into this, when I was a kid a family member made barbie outfits, I wish i saved them!! Thanks for any advice!!

I made the dress on this website. It's a free pattern and is fairly easy to sew and turned out really cute. You can customize it a bit too.
