My RRRs are close to laying now. Their combs and wattles are reddening up. I understand that when there are only hens, that one will become dominant and not lay. How do I prevent this happening? Does this always happen?

I have a dominant hen too....she even bosses around the rooster.....and she is the only one laying.

I have 2 RIR hens and a cross bred rooster. My dominant hen is the only one laying right now. The other hen acts cowardly any time she is in the pen with the dominant hen. If I let her out she acts normal. Put her back in, she drops her head and won't hardly eat. Wierd. And yes my dominant hen bosses the rooster around too.

My dominant hen (out of 4 pullets only, no roosters) is also the only one laying. Anybody see a pattern here? /:|
