Dominique or Barred Rock

I don't have any pictures yet. I was given 2 hens last night that are suppose to be Dominique. I have one hen given to me about 2 yrs ago. I assumed her to be a Barred Rock.

What is the difference between the two breeds? I see no difference in the barring,but; my older her has a larger comb and is slightly thinner that the two that are suppose to be Dominique.

Dominiques should be rose combed; whereas, barred rocks are single combed.

In hatchery birds the comb might be the major difference.

In the breed standard, rocks are much heavier, meant as a layer and meat bird.

I think Dominiques were bred mostly as layers, cause they're lighter bodied.

OK, the older hen I've had a couple years has a single comb. The two newer hens have a rose comb. Thanks for the help.
