dominique vs. barred rock?

Quote:
NYREDS makes a excellent point and helping to preserve a rare breed with a story was my main motivator in choosing Dominiques. They are hands down the sweetest, friendliest, most docile birds on the farm and will always be a part of my flock. I can't help but feel like I have a piece of American history running around out back, and they are the chickens my 85 year old Grandmother remembers as a child.

Older Mustang all the way!

First thing, the older people say when the see my Barred Rocks are "OH wow, Domineckkers"... When I explain they are Plymouth Barred Rocks, they just look at me! LOL

Four weeks ago, my grandson and son-in-law find a 'stripped' hen at the end of my drive, thinking it was one of my Barred Rocks, they brought her back===NOPE it's a Dominique pullet (maybe 18weeks old).. We asked and No one claims her.. So, we are adding her to my flock..

First difference I noticed was her comb, second was her different shape, next was her leg size and color-- totally different than my Barred Rocks.. Her Barring is much more blurred..
So, HOW do you say 'Dominique'? Is it like Monique? All my life I have heard "Domineckkers"
