Dominiques vs. Barred Rocks?

How do they compare? Do Barred Rocks outlay Doms? Do the Dominiques out-forage the Rocks? Lastly, can you use Dominiques for sex-link crosses as you can with BR's? Thanks.

Doms are the superior forager, the laying is also slightly better with doms. And yes, you can use doms for sex linking did it with faverolles this year.
Actually BR's are derived from doms so either way you'd be good, but doms are the original breed.

Also worth mentioning Dominiques are MUCH smarter, not saying BR's are dummies or anything but the difference is very noticeable if that sort of thing is important to you.

Oh crumb! I've thought of Dominiques because of their long history and they look cool but I haven't let myself get any. I've got a lot as it is. But now that i read about their personality, i want them!!!!

If you like big personalities you'll enjoy them, the fact that they eat much less dosen't hurt a thing either.

Everything I've read here, I agree with 100%, but there's another advantage, too - they don't get frostbitten combs like the Rocks, do, since they've got those tight, little walnut combs!

I really enjoy my Doms - they're one of my (many) favorite breeds! For my top ten, they're at least in the top 5.
