Hi,

I posted on here yesterday about a call duck egg in the incubator that had reached day 28 (I believe call ducklings have an incubation period of around 26 to 27 days?) and still not hatched. I decided to (rightly or wrongly) assist it by following the steps listed on this website. I am fairly new to this and the first batch that I incubated last month didn't hatch. I have been trying to do everything by the book. Anyway we are on day 29, I removed the shell above the air sac, there is no bleeding and the duckling is alive (and moving around under the membrane) and has been like this for the past 14 hours. I have been keeping the membrane moist and watching out for the veins receding but not sure whether they are receding or not. The ducking has not pipped internally and from what I have read on call ducklings they seem to need assistance in the hatching process. Any help would be great. I understand that some people don't agree with assisted hatching but I am convinced that if I don't help it the duckling will not attempt to hatch like the last batch.

Thank you in advance
