I happily ordered a large container of Aviacharge and it arrived in time for Christmas, so I wrapped it and put it under the tree.Looked forward to trying it as we have not ordered it before. Our dog thought it smelled lovely under there. It does, smells like chocolate. I had chicken duty today so mixed up some according to instructions and was disgusted at the color, but, oh well, I thought. I took some out and poured a gallon in their heated water bowl. Doodle cockerel ran over, took a big drink, and then, I swear he got this expression of disgust on his face! I could imagine him thinking "someone's poisoned this!!!!" He refused to drink any more and when the others came near for a drink, he warned them away! I gave them regular water too b/c I don't want them to not drink at all. If I reduce the dosage by half, will it still have any benefit?

What a good boy, to be taking such good care of his girls! Even though it's not convenient in this particular case. It sounds like he's going to be a really good rooster.

It would certainly be worth trying just a tiny amount in their water at first and then gradually increasing the amount added, over time. It would give them a chance to get used to the flavor.

Any amount added would still be good for them. I really do wonder if it's an acquired taste, though.

I did think I would try to maybe sprinkle some vitamin water on their food, too...they don't care for mash either, they eat layer pellets or grain, but maybe just enough to moisten or a tiny bit in the water is a good idea, too. Our chickens seem to be suspicious of anything that doesn't look natural...they shy away from DE, too, unless I mix it with dirt in their dusting holes. Doodle would love to be top roo someday, so he's always practicing...
