Hi. I need help with the dosing amount of medicine for my rooster. It's duramycin 72-200 injectable. He weighs 2 lbs. It was recommended by tsc, but they weren't sure on the dose. Thanks

What symptoms or illness are you treating? If treating for a respiratory disease, Tylan 50 injectable is probably a better bet, and many use it orally at 0.2 ml per pound, given twice a day for 5 days. There is not a lot of info available about dosage for injectable oxytetracycline because it can cause muscle or tissue damage when injected. Most of the links below recommend oral dosage of the powder which is not available without a vet's prescription:

Thank you. I was having trouble finding tylan, but finally got it tonight. So, even though it's injectable, you give it orally?

Yes, many give it orally, especially in small chicks or birds with poor muscle mass or those who would rather not give injections.

OK. And .2ml per pound, so .4ml for my 2 pound rooster? The directions say you would give .5ml to a 6 pound pig.
Also, can I give it subQ? If so, how would you go about that. Thanks
