Double stacking???

I do not have a GQF, just a homemade incubator (old ice cooler) but have stacked eggs during the last 3 hatches and it has worked out well for me, still exactly 95% hatch rate.

Just make sure they can all get out of their shells when the time comes.

And I do staggered hatches when stacking them so the top level hatches out 3 or 4 days before the bottom level.

I wanted to ask you. Do you put anything between the 2 layers of eggs. ?Or you just put on egg on top of the other. ?

You just can't have them all hatch at the same time, because they need room to get out of the egg. Then you have all the problems with doing a staggered hatch.

You can do it .If the second layer isnt full. Only half full. Will it still work. Or you still have to staggered the hatch?

Ive tried it with my last hatch. The hatch rate does go down either from that, or because i couldnt turn each egg I was tilting the bator back and forth. Im using the hovabator 1588. But it was either try double stacking or toss the extra eggs.

That is the same as i have. What was your hatch rate? How many eggs did you have in there. How many hatch out ok for you?

i filled my turner up and then put 8 eggs on top of those. When I candled I had to toss some so I just replaced the duds with some of the ones that had been riding on top. I ended up with 3 empyt holes in my turner. Mine are due to hatch on Friday .
