Double wall waterer

Does anyone use one of these waterers? Mine isn't releasing the water correctly. I have to pick it up to get the little basin they drink from to fill completely. Any idea why? I clean it pretty regularly. I tried to Google it but could only find reason it overflows.

It just dawned on me you are probably supposed to hang it huh? So sitting it on a brick is the reason the water isn't coming out right... man I feel stupid now!

I like that they don't overfill. If on a slant and fills as much as when hanging it overflows and empties. Constantly overflow when hanging as birds move it, still work well enough that way but you do go through water faster.

Is it the metal one? If it is, then you can't hang it, or the top part will pull off an you will no longer have a vacuum in it.

They can hang, there is a post that the top locks over. It just keeps the water ring completely full so when birds bump it it spills water. Don't hang in coop is all and you need to fill it every day.

Oh I set it on a brick in the coop at night and a different brick in the run during the day. And I leave it inside if it's rainy or chilly (which is hasn't been for some time). I'll just move my brick a bit so it's at a slight angle
