Double Yokes?

I have a Barred Rock who just started laying a few weeks ago and has given me 2 huge double yoke eggs. Is there a certain food or schedule that encourages this behavior? I'd love to have more. I have 2 other barred rocks and 3 eggers all the same age, all laying normally.

There's nothing you can do to encourage or discourage multiple yolks, it's either genetic or just a glitch in the egg system.

My kids always thought they were a sign of good luck, to get one in the pan. I agree with Nuthatch, it is more of a glitch, some pullets are quite prone to them, others will never have them. A tendency if they are going to have them, to have more of them the first laying season, less as time goes on.

I did have a BO that that them both the first and second year - but none from then on.

Young pullets have hormonal dances like humans in their puberty I guess. Oftentimes they tend to produce two yolks at once. If it's up to the genetically gifted I wouldn't be surprised stores will sell them in a year of ten with all these evolutions going on in bio engineering.
