Another duckling was killed last night, but this time it was a runner/rouen cross that was about 4 weeks old and it wasn't eaten. In the same pen as the Snowy Mallards were in. Nothing else in the coop was bothered. This duckling was about a foot tall. I thought if it was a snake that a duckling that size would be safe. It did look like the feathers on it's neck were slicked down. I guess it had tried to eat it and couldn't. I think my son and I are going on a snake hunt. So far the remaining Snowy Mallard ducklings are safe in the brooder.

Found a 5 foot black rat snake in the coop late this afternoon. My son caught him and we released him in some woods about 8 miles away. I hope hit stays there as to come back it will have to cross interstate 75.
