Hi, my first post but use this site lots, thank you 😊

3 year old ex battery hen, lived with us for 18 months, been fluffed up and sad for a few days, off food and has lost weight.

I've read around sour crop and this morning thought I'd see if anything would drain after a gentle massage and holding her downwards.

Not sure whether her crop was swollen but there was SO much fluid draining, we kept giving her rests but so much came out. Thought we would treat her as sour crop but is it normal to be quite clear fluid that doesnt really smell? Was just like someone had filled her with ever so slightly discoloured water. Lots!

12 hours later before bed my husband tried draining her again and the same thing happened.

We have given her some nystatin tonight.

Can sour crop present like this? Copious amounts of non offensive fluid pouring from her beak? Or any other thoughts? Videos i have seen suggest nasty smelly thicker fluid coming up rather that loads of water.

Poor lovely chicken 😢 thank you šŸ’•
