We have 6 ducks and 4 drakes, and while it isn't as bad as I had anticipated, the boys are a nuisance, and we are moving them to a bachelor pad on the other side of the property. Like I said, we have 4, but 1 is a definite keep forever, as it's my daughter's duck, the other 3 are keep because I feel guilty drakes. Would you move all 4 over together, or leave the 1 we are definitely keeping in with the girls, since if we get rid of the other 3, he'll be back in there anyway? I don't see us getting rid of the others, but you never know. We have no need for fertilized eggs, but want to keep everyone happiest.

I think I'd pick two drakes I liked the best and try to rehome the other two. It's not easy to manage separate pens if you're going to let them out to forage and have to do that at different times. Drakes will sometimes act a little wiggy if there are females in the vicinity even if they're not in the same pen. You could give it a try to see how it works out for you. People have varying experiences with it based on their individual birds.

I have two drakes to four ducks, and it is working for me. My drakes are best buddies. They talk about everything. They are always together. I would suggest the same as Jade, pick two and rehome the other two. Watch your favorite drake, and see which other drake he spends the most time with. Duck have buddies just like the rest of us.

X2. It's kind of like you don't choose them, they choose you. We have two 2015 drakes that are inseparable for no reason I understand. Neither is a "keeper," and neither shows any interest in the females. (But no, they don't seem to have that kind of interest in one another, either. They're just like together in all kinds of weather.)

Not sure about confirmed bachelors, but they stick tight to one another. Hubby and I noticed maybe 3 weeks ago that they stick together. One flies away, the other flies after it. It's really very sweet to watch. One is a small gray and the other is a really big blue fawn.
