Drake Limping

I have a year old jumbo Peking Drake who is limping. Just noticed it late yesterday. There is no obvious signs of injury or bumblefoot. Any ideas?

Hi.

If your boy is not suffering from an injury or any kind of abscess, I would not worry and just wait for his limp to heal by itself : it does not appear to be severe or even going to be permanent.

Keep us updated if ever your drake's limp does get worse... but for the time being, you really don't need to worry (in my opinion at least).

• I have already seen ducks limping with absolutely no apparent reason (no injury nor bumblefoot), and their limp has always ended up healing entirely by itself - sometimes in a matter of days, more rarely in matter of weeks.

Jumbo Pekin can have a tough time supporting their own wait on their legs. I have not had this issue, but have heard that extra niacin can even help adults. What are you currently feeding?
