I have 6 Khaki Campbell's 3- females and 3-males. One of the females seems to be getting bullied by one of the drakes. I see her off by herself a lot and when she does join the group he often chases her away. Yesterday she didn't even bother coming out of the pen all day while the rest swam and played. So last night I watched him in the house and he would push her out the door, I would get her back in and he'd do it again. Once I closed the door so he couldn't push her out I watched and he would chase her around and peck at her head. He'd act like he was going to mate with her but would just sit on her and peck at her head. We separated the boys and girls last night but he's doing the same again today. Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel terrible for her and the others don't treat her this way.

Thanks!

I'd give this drake his own private space. You can put the other drakes with him if you want but I wouldn't tolerate him treating one of your females like that. The stress he is putting her under will eventually takes it's toll. You could also re
home him because your duck to drake ratio is off anyway, to each drake there should be At least 2-4 females each to keep any one female from being over bred .

Welcome to BYC.

Thanks for you reply! When you say to separate them, do you mean all the time or for awhile? How would I re-home him? I got these from the local feed store when they were babies and had no idea of how many boys vs girls I was getting. I wouldn't mind getting him a new home but wouldn't he need to go with a buddy since they stick together like glue?

Thanks for you help I really appreciate it!

Well actually if you re home 2 boys the bully and his buddy that would give you the perfect ratio of 1 drake to 3 females. You could advertise on Craigslist or here on BYC we have a Re homing thread and a buy sell trade thread. If you decide to separate him then I'd do it asap, and keep him separated for a while maybe till end of week then let him back out if he starts again then he goes in solitary confinement with a buddy or alone. But don't let him pick or harass your female it isn't fair to her.

Thank you! I have him separated from her right now. I will keep them away from each other until I can figure out what to do with him.

Again, I appreciate your help :)

Keep us updated. Make sure the others are treating her okay too.
