I have Muscovy ducks. Original drake, Jack, and duck, Diane, are 2 years old. 1 year olds include 3 of their daughters, 3 other females and one drake, Kitkat. Also have 4 month old female and drake hatched this year. I am trying to rehome youngest drake to keep ratio at 2 drakes for 9 ducks. Everyone was getting along until last week. The 1 year old drake, Kitkat, is suddenly bullying the oldest one, Jack. I have noticed bloodied wings and tail feathers on Jack. I put the 2 year old in "ducky jail" for 4 days and just let him out. He immediately went after Jack again. I'm supposing it is a dominance issue but that surprises me at this time of year. What to do?

I honestly have never been able to keep mature Muscovy drakes together . I have had Muscovy since 2004 and have had 4 drake before all 4 had to have their own area in their little over half acre. With their own females. We even made stalls inside the main coop so the drakes would have bedrooms for sleeping. I did this until 2016 when my oldest drake died and I just decided I needed to find a solution so I rehomed 2 of my Drakes and kept just one. Now he is going on 10 yrs old and after he's gone. I probably won't have any more Muscovy drakes. I love them dearly but they just cannot live together in peace. lol My females are going on 10 also so I most likely won't have them many more years. Although my old drake was a month shy of 12. This drake still cannot be happy unless he is after my gander. Even this time of year. He pays no attention to my 2 Runner drakes.

Thanks for the advice. The two older drakes didn't have any problems getting along. There was a natural split with the females sticking with one or the other while free ranging, and they all slept together in the coop at night. The third drake is 4 months and bigger than the other two but sticks with his sister, and doesn't seem involved in the current situation.
After 4 days in the smaller coop, I let the drake out and he immediately went for the older one. Jack, the older one, doesn't put up any fight back just flees but with more damage to wings and tail. Back to purgatory for Kitkat. I thought it might help if he had a couple of his ladies with him. As soon as I put them in, he was mating. I wouldn't be surprised at this behaviour in the spring but come on - it is snowing here.
I am trying to rehome the youngest one but all sales are cancelled. I have him posted on internet sites as well but no response.
Will I have to consider maintaining two coops or do you think this aggressive behaviour will pass?

I never saw the aggressive behavior pass. It slows down some after fall molt and breeding is over for the year. Some of course are worse than others. The drake I have now isn’t mating his females but he is still going after my gander, thankfully the gander and his mate give him a wide berth so he rarely gets hold of him. Once geese breeding season starts oh boy. I kept all mine in the same coop the boys just had separate bedrooms so there wasn’t any fighting once everyone was up for the night. Included was covers for the stalls made out of hardware clothe and framed in wood put on hinges so they could be lifted up for cleaning and to keep the boys from
Getting out.

Question for @Miss Lydia , When separating Drakes from other Drakes or even hens if a person don't wont them mating. Can they share the same dividing fence or is it better if each group is unable to view the other?
