I have new baby chicks and know about "pasty butt", but my chicks just have dried poops stuck to the butt, not blocking the vent. What is making their poop stick to them? I'm trying to to clean them as much to keep from stressing them out. They are 1 1/2 weeks old, inside the house with a heat lamp, well hydrated with duramycin in their water. Is it possible they are too hot?

That is kind of how pasty butt starts. If you hold the chicks bottom in warm water you can gently remove the poo. Try adding a small amount of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) to their water. The mothers all natural ACV is best.
