Hear me out, I know this sounds crazy. I have NEVER seen mealworms on my farm. A few years ago I bout a small bag of dried mealworms from Blue Seal (commercial, not home made). I fed some to the ladies, put them on a shelf, then forgot about them.
Last year, or maybe this spring, I found them and I was going to dump them in the run to get rid of them. I spilled a ton of them behind the grain bin and forgot about them. Today when doing my fall cleaning I moved the bin and found an active colony of live mealworms. The chickens made quick work of them.
How is this possible? Are there eggs or something in the bags as well or is this just one heck of a coincidence?
