My poor little girl! I was putting her down (she was perched on my hand) and she jumped and sort of landed awkwardly stumbling over her feed dish. This was Saturday night. She panted for a couple of minutes, limped around and cheeped like she was in pain when any of her siblings bumped her. She slept the night, but cheeped when shifting around. I really hoped that she would be fine in the morning.
Well, she wasn't. Her right wing is drooping. She let me pick her up, hold her and gently feel around and manipulate the wing without seeming distressed. Nothing feels out of place, but she isn't holding it up. I watched her all day yesterday and she is eating and drinking but not moving around as much as usual. When she tries to run she actually steps on the wing! She still cheeps when she gets bumped and stands there with her eyes closed for a moment. It just breaks my heart!
The wing is still the same this morning. She ate (got some mash mixed with yogurt and egg yolk with extra mealy worm treats!) and I put electolytes in her water. DH says to leave her alone, chickens are tough. I was considering making a little sling for her... I know with human shoulder injuries a little support can help a lot. Any suggestions, or should I just watch and wait?
