Hi there. I have three pullets that are between 2 and 3 months old. One of them, our New Hampshire Red named Ariel, has seemed off lately. Her wings seem to be droopy/hanging low and she seems to be tired and closes her eyes sometimes as if she's falling asleep when she's outside. Her neck also seems to be less extended, but she extends it fine when she's eating. She's eating fine (lots actually) and drinking fine, but seems more mellow than usual. Her poop seems fine and her eyes look fine too.

A bit of context - the weather has fluctuated a lot lately (been very hot and is transitioning to cooler and cloudier weather), and we recently started introducing our pulleys to our two other fully grown hens. Ariel is definitely lowest in the pecking order (she's the only one still making chick noises) and has been getting pecked a bit by the older chickens.

Based on this and the photo, do you think she is sick? If so, any ideas a out with what and how to treat? Or do you think it might just be the transition and getting picked on?

I'm still pretty new to this, so advice is appreciated.

She is defiantly anemic. the color of her comb is almost white! check her vent for mites... if she is covered in them... easy fix. Give her a bath in warm mild soapy water. If not then something is going on inside. either way mites or not I would give her some chicken electrolytes (from the feed store). Good luck! Hate to say it but this is what they look like before they kick it. Hope for the best.

Cliff777, thanks for the tips! I checked and don't see any signs of mites. I gave her a bath just in case though and have had all of them on electrolytes. I agree - we had a pullet that didn't make it last year, and she looked a lot like this right before she passed.

Enola, thanks! After reading about coccidiosis, it sounds like that could be it. I just bought some Corid online, which will be here in a day or two, so hopefully that'll help!
