Does any one have a slide out dropping board that goes under the roost? DO you have any photos? Is it easy to clean? What would you change about your design?

I made a dropping board as seen here

I put in about half an inch of shavings and clean it out maybe every 2 months with 4 chickens. I give it a 'stir' every couple of weeks or so. One of my chickens has a habit of digging up the shavings so sometimes there is a lot of poop directly on the board but it can get scraped off pretty easily.

I'm not sure what I'd change. Maybe split the board into two boards, as a single 5' by 2' board can be a little unwieldy for one person.

Mine is not slide out, but completely removable via wing nut when a major cleaning is in order. It sits on a bracket, and is supported on the wall. I simply lift up the wire barrier, and use a drywall tape knife to scrape the poop. Very easy.

Do those of you with the wiring over the board find it to be helpful or does it just get covered in chicken poop?

The wire I am using is a very open mesh. It is not getting covered up in poop. The idea is to keep the birds out of the poop and picking/walking through it. It is working well for me so far.
