Tell me about you dropping boards! How far are they under the roost? How wide are they? Are they painted wood, natural wood, metal, vinyl or other material? Are they slanted or level?

I want to use every bit of floor space my coop has to offer and would like to use this idea but I can't get a true picture of what it is..Any pictures ==would be wonderful.Thank you all..Dixie

I have mine about 6" below roost. It's level and lined with linoleum. It's been working great for a year now. I dust it lightly with pine bedding every week and a half and sweep it up when I clean the coop.

I dont have any pics as I dont have it up yet but my son is helping a neighbor tear down a camping trailer and he brought me the little dining table that folds down, its perfect. Its about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide and covered in formica.

I never seem to take pix of things, but here is a little combination nestbox-roost-droppingsboard thingamadoodle that I'm using right now for my two sexlinks. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=32334
I
really really like it, overall. The take-home lesson on the droppings board issue is probably just that the plastic-coated chipboard stuff scavenged from cheap shelves works REALLY REALLY well. (I still sprinkle shavings on it for ease of cleaning tho). I'ts about the only place I'd use a particle type product in the coop.
