Dropping eggs on ground...

So it seems to me that some of my girls have developed a new bad habit. Lately everyday I'm finding a random egg in the dirt, or in a poo pile under the roost or even in a favorite dust bath area. Its like at least two of my girls if not more are laying while roosting or dropping eggs while they walk. Anyone else ever see this or know why they would do this?

I have had this happen a few times I am not sure why but it happens a few times then they lay in the nest boxes again who knows with chickens. I think it might have to do with the hen hogging the best nest and they give up and lay the egg where they are.

Its a bad case of Im to lazy to get off my roost and into a box to lay my egg -or- Im having to much fun so ill just lay my egg here! dont worry my girls do it to the only thing I could tell you is put some golf balls in the boxes or just clean them as they lay them

Yea...I'm thinking its lazy lazy girls. I have alot of nest boxes and it doesn't matter. They all still like ONE box lol. I do have fake eggs in all the boxes and it does seem to help spread the laying out.

My girls did that when they were first starting to lay and I think it was because they didn't know the difference between and egg and poop? I don't know chickens are silly!
