Dry Incubation Question; On Day 2 of lockdown.

We started lockdown yesterday in my Genesis 1588 and my humidity went up to 81% where it stayed all day. It finally started going down last night and is at 66% this morning. Should I add a little more water or leave it alone? Does the humidity need to be at 70% or is 66% OK? According to the Weather Channel, the humidity outside should be at 75% today. We have no A/C so all windows are open in my bedroom (where my bator is).

I'd leave it, because when your first chicks start to zip your humidity will increase. (I up my humidity to 60-65 at lockdown). I'm sure you'll have a pip soon

Humidity-wise, 66 and 70 % are pretty much the same thing. You really can't get pin point accuracy with humidity.the way you can with temp.

I keep my humidity around 55% during hatching. I have had better hatches since I lowered my humidity from 70% down to 50-55%.

That makes me feel better because I can't get my humidity up! I have all of my trays full and a bowl w/a wet sponge in it and I'm still only reading 57%. (the spike was when I first put the extra water in at lockdown)

Yikes. And mine went down to 64% and I added a little more water to bring it to 70%. No matter since I've just been told I should be pipping already and there is no action going on in there. I wasn't even paying attention since I thought you should start seeing pips on day 21. So now I'm scared & upset I messed up on my first batch.

Don't worry I've had no action until Day 21 and then they kept hatching until day 25 depends on the eggs too not just you
