One of my hens is moulting and after examining her, I noticed that she also has a lot of dry skin. Is this normal during a moult?

Her legs are fine, it's her back that has all the dry skin.

You can safely use a tiny amount of bag balm or vaseline there, but be sure it is massaged in well. If you notice some discomfort from new feathers coming through, ease up...and if you feed your hens wild bird suet, it provides oils and fats for the feathercoat and lubricates the skin, all over, and the membranes of her egg chute...

Bird suet! I love this sight I learn so much! I was wondering if it would be OK to hang a cake of suet in their coop , give them something to peck at.
