Dry incubation is not the absence of water just lower than usual the first 18 days. I run 35-40% the first 18 days and then kick it up to 65-70% for lockdown. Every area is different so you just have to keep an eye on your aircells to see where you need to be. If I incubate during the winter I do have to add some water to keep it 35-40% but if during the spring, my air humidity is high enough I sometimes don't have to add any water the first 18 days and it will stay as high as 45%. Lockdown humidity is very important, they need the extra to hatch.

Exactly. If your room humidity is high, you may not have to add any or just a bit to get the % you want in the incubator. It all depends on what time of the year I incubator, it changes. Just make sure your hygrometer is calibrated.
