One of my ducks is acting funny. She's got a bottom that has white poop on it that is goopy, she's not wanting to eat, and even let me catch her today. What do I do to help her or to figure out what's wrong? Help!

Post a little more info, breed, age, feed, whether she has been wormed or not, pened or free range, etc. try to include all observed info. Hopefully someone can give some advice. Deb

1) What type of bird , age and weight. Gold Hybrid Duck, 1.4 years old, approx. 5lbs.

2) What is the behavior, exactly. Off by herself, not as fast as she normally is, let me catch her, which never happens.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Since yesterday afternoon.

4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No.

5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Nothing that I know of.

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. She wouldn't eat yesterday when I fed her.

7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Normally colored, but runny and stuck to her hind end.

8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Just watching her, fresh food and water.

9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? If I could find an avian vet I'd take her in, but we have none here.

10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. No pics.

11) Describe the housing/bedding in use. Free ranging in a fenced-in 150X50ft. fenced in area. Access to coop, but they all sleep outside.

She eats layer/game bird mix with fresh veggies, bugs, worms, etc, that she finds free ranging.

Sorry I missed this last night.

I wonder if she could be egg bound? I really don't know much about ducks, but a chicken hen acting like that at her age I'd wonder about egg bound or possibly molting and it seems early in the year for molting, though ducks could be differrent.... Hopefully someone else will chime in.
