My mum has 2 drakes and 2 females, the second male is offspring of the first and about 6 months ago he attacked the younger one. Since then I have had the young one. It had been suggested that she has another drake to keep with the young drake as she doesn't want any ducklings. The 2 drakes would be kept separate from the others.
So my question is will the 2 drakes sense the female and fight or will it only be an issues if they are kept together. The young drake is very placid. Thanks

I'm betting you'll get opposite opinions on this, but I wouldn't do it myself. Drakes alone will do fine (generally), and ducks alone will do fine (generally). Drakes and ducks kept together but separate aren't really alone, and it causes them anxiety. The worst part is if they're only separated by a fence, or even if they're separated but can see one another. If the drakes and ducks are separately penned and outside sight, you should still expect them to act kind of wigged out during mating season.

You and she do have two other options...Either she keeps the remaining drake and the two ducks together, then just collects any eggs the ducks lay, or one of you take both drakes and the other takes both ducks. Have you thought of that?

If she was to do as suggested the 2 drakes would be able to see the ducks and drake. Perhaps that's not such a good idea then. That's maybe an option what you suggest.
