I have a rouen drake that is 1 year and 3 months old and an African goose female that is the same age. I have decided that I need to get rid of the duck because he attacks all of my other birds and fights with them but the goose does perfectly fine with them. They are mates and I feel really bad having to split them up but I think that it is the best decision. I am just wondering how to go about taking him from the goose and making sure that she doesn't die of a broken heart.

Probably best to get the goose a mate. Geese get really attached to their "mates" and don't do well alone.

I do have another goose and 11 other ducks it's just that one duck that is horrible and I can't give them another space because we don't have room and I live in alaska so we would have to heat them separately....

Doesn't seem like you have much choice then but to find him a home or have him for dinner. I had to rehome 2 drakes this year as much as I hated it but it was necessary for harmony in the flock.

I know... I've just heard of geese withering away into nothing because they lost their partner and I don't want that to happen...

Maybe your goose will partner up with the other goose, meaning when i just had my Embden gander he was hatched here by a Muscovy duck well they were in separable for over 5 yrs i brought in a young 4 month old feamle goose he wanted no part of her until i separated him for his mama/mate and then he began to get a little interested in the goose but it wasn't until mating season that the relationship was really sealed. so it does take time but it can happen. I did put a piece of plastic fencing between them at night because she was scared of him and would jump out of the stall I kept them in and I was afraid she would injure herself.
