Last night I was making up a list of items I need to pick up at TCS for our first duckling brooder and watching the costs add up. As the totals got higher I could sense my sweet wife's patience for my quack habit was getting a bit thin. That's when the brainstorm hit.

Two nights ago I set our first 28 eggs in our newly contructed home made incubator, the "Quackmaster 5000". I numbered the eggs in pencil to make it easier to track thier progress. It occured to me that with all of the football, basketball, and even baby "pools" that my friends and coworkers play, why not a bit of duck bingo to offset the brooder expenses. So I made a the following post to our Facebook page and had folks signing up within minutes.

"Gonna Play Duck Bingo! OK here's how it works. We have 28 eggs numbered 1 to 28. For a $5 donation to the brooder equipment fund you can pick a number. The person who has the number of the first duckling completely out of it's shell gets half the pot. The other half helps buy heat lamps, feeders and waterers for the brooder. The numbers are first come first serve so get your's now before your favorite number is gone!"

This is NOT a thread looking for folks to play. I just figured I'd share the idea in case anyone else is looking for creative ways to fund thier addiction.

I like the idea of crowd-sourcing, I think it's called. You certainly have identified something that seems to strike a chord with many people.
