Hello,

We have a female duck about two years old that started breathing oddly about 36-48 hours ago. (See Video).

She seems to be eating and drinking normally, and pursuing the male with the typical head bobbing that she does when trying to woo him. She seems to be acting fairly normally except this.

We thought at first she might be egg bound so we did the epsom salt soak and gently massaged her abdomen to see if we could feel anything or work anything loose. No change.

We noticed that she has a slight case of bumble foot, so we are treating that, but are concerned. Her quack seems quieter and raspier than normal also.

Any duck pros out there know what else to try or what this might be?

EDIT: since I can’t post video, I’ll describe it a little better. Her abdomen and rear seem to be convulsing/throbbing slightly, almost like she’s trying to poop or lay an egg but it’s constant. Her breathing seems a bit labored. Any thoughts?

So sorry you haven't gotten any replies. How is your girl doing?
I'm new to ducks so I don't have much experience with health issues yet, but I can't try to help as best I can. I hope she's doing better, though.
