The other day, my intended purchase of 4 ducks turned into a purchase of 6, because I found 2 little black ones I simply COULD NOT pass up! I visited two feed stores and wasn't expecting to find all-black ducklings at the 2nd store....and once I saw them sticking out amongst their little yellow bretheren I just HAD TO HAVE THEM.

'Course, I have no idea what they are, other than cute. Looking online I am thinking Khaki Campbell? What do you think? They are all black- black feet, black bill, with a tiny bit of light-brownish on their chest. This is a bad cell phone pic, but it gives you the general idea:

And here are the other 4.....these I absolutely have NO clue about. They could be anything from Rouen ducks (which I'm hoping they are) to Muscovies, but I am horrible at discerning differences in ducklings (though, I am good at alliteration

Thanks for any help!

Ooooh, wow, now that I've Googled Cayuga ducks, I just may have to go get more....they are totally neat- I've never seen anything like them. *squeeee!*

Only problem is, the feed store where I got them is 75 miles away. I was there on fairly legitimate errands the other day (car maintenance, purchasing odds & ends, and visiting a friend) but I think my husband's head might explode if I tell him I'm going all the way to Yankton for more ducklings. LOL. He has been extraordinarily tolerant of my burgeoning poultry hobby....I think largely because he has visions of rich, flavorful fresh eggs and fancy duck & chicken dinners in his future....despite the fact that I specifically told him I'd be getting the ducks JUST for eggs and as pets. The chickens; well, a few of them will be meat birds....but I have a soft spot for ducks, always have since I was a little girl and my grandpa and I would go out on summer evenings & feed the local Mallards together

We'll see what happens; I may think of an excuse to make the 75 mile trip again! The feed store close to home is supposed to get their first shipment of ducklings this Friday; maybe I'll get lucky and find some there.

Thanks to all who responded- I'll try to get some better photos of the duckies later; I don't have a digicam and the lighting has to be just right for my cell phone to do a good job!

Oh- names....the two black ones are Daffy and Ebony, and the 4 brown & yellow stripey-faced ones are Huey, Dcuk, Big Jim and Martin Penwald (named after Kris Kristofferson's character in the movie Convoy- aka the "Rubber Duck"....did I mention I used to be a truck driver & hubby still is one....LOL)
