hey everyone!
so currently this is our set up, the metal frame obviously wasn’t finished then but it now has chicken wire over it so it’s like a large cage with a door and that’s placed over the little blue coop house thing.
honestly that set up was okay for a while but we are first time duck owners and it really just isn’t the best nor is it convenient. it doesn’t seem the warmest and it definitely does not stay very dry and it’s very difficult to clean, there’s an endless amount of problems with it, we hate it.

i was wondering what your guys suggestions would be for the best type of coop for about 6 ducks, we currently have 4 and we lost 2 in the fall but we plan on getting more.
what do you guys have? and what’s the most convenient?
i would really appreciate any advice. like literally anything.
we were thinking like a smaller shed?
like they just stay in it at night as a shelter and stuff. i don’t know just let me know what you guys prefer.

i forgot to mention that the cage thing has like covering for the colder months and such and the coop has thing they can walk up to it with, also if we were to get a shed we’d probably attach it to the cage thing. i just want a coop closer to the ground and easier to clean

Wherein the world are you located?

Or better yet... how cold do you get? And how much snow do you get?

I greatly prefer easy to enter coops, so coops that you can stand up in.

I have used my pond coop that I have used for ducks, I think it is a 6x8:

But I really like my duck coop:

we’re located in michigan, the weather here is all over the place, it gets pretty low and this year we’ve had little snow but there have been some days where it’ll be a snow storm with a few inches then there’s no snow for a week. michigan is unpredictable.
i really like the idea of a coop we can stand in i think it’d make cleaning much easier. i actually really like your coop.

We have six large body ducks (silver Appleyards), and they live in a 4'x8' elevated duckhouse with an attached 12'x8' run. Because the house is elevated, there is an additional 4'x8' space under the house, which can be separated from the rest of the run if we need to separate a bird or birds.

Our run is both covered and predator proof (and I'm VERY glad we did both!). We are in Maine, and our duckhouse is not insulated, but it is relatively draft free with four windows that operate on sliders for ventilation. While I agree with @Alaskan 's point about how nice a walk-in coop/house is, our elevated house has worked out well. We built it with a tailgate door, and we use the deep litter method, which makes cleaning out a breeze.
