Duck & dog fencing materials

Hi. I'm am looking at fencing in my entire pond for my ducks. The pond is about 50*115'. The fence would be about 900' long. There are minks, raccoons, and foxes in the area. One of my mastiffs like to escape the fence by weighing down the top then jumping over. Which fence height and weave would be the best? I've seen these that look attractive:
Woven horse fence, 2*4" openings, 48" tall, with hotwires on top;
welded fence. 2*4" openings
Chicken wire 1" openings, 4' or 5' tall
Hardware cloth 1/2" openings
Two layers, the first woven goat fence with 4*4" openings, covered with chicken wire

1/2" hardware cloth is one of the best ways to protect our animals as if attached securely, only a bear could probably get through it.

Chicken wire is mainly used for keeping chickens in or out of something like the garden. Wild animals can get through it though so I wouldn't trust it.

Any ideas on where or how to buy 1000' of it? It's going for $110-130 for 100'. I'll buy it but would love to save $$ if possible.

If your dog likes to weigh down the fence the biggest concern is what type of post and post spacing that you are using. I have my dog area fenced 2x4” horse fence, 4” round wooden posts every 10ft and 8” round cemented in the corners. My biggest dog is my 93lb Akita and she can’t bend it much if anything at the top with no Hotwire and certainly not enough to get over. I have put up hundreds of acres of fence and I can tell you the post and post spacing is just as important as what type fence you choose.

We bought our first roll of 1/2" x 36"x 100' a few years ago on Amazon. I see that same roll is now nearly $30 cheaper.

We're needing more to build four 6' x 12' covered breeding pens, and may just buy this again and run two rolls around it. We'll need a bit more than you. If I find any better than what we already bought, I'll let you know.

If the dog can't/won't jump it, I would think it would work. I just read elsewhere where a guy's 186 lb dog chewed through theirs.

I had said if applied correctly, it would keep out everything but a bear. Well, I'll have to correct what I say from now on when boasting about how strong it is. If your dog is ferocious and weighs as much as a bear, you may have issues.

I would use these if that were the choices I would never try to fence in an area that big with hardware cloth or use hardware cloth as fencing. I would use the horse fence with your dog as he will also tear up the welded wire in time.

Most use the hardware cloth as predicter apron around bottom of fencing to prevent digging under and up the sides of pens to keep from reaching in.
