Duck egg early embryo death?

I believe 2 of 6 of my duck eggs have died early at day 14. I have been turning 3 times a day, misting once a day and my still air bator is set at 102. I've had 40-55% humidity. The eggs were shipped. they are placed vertical in an egg carton. Any ideas as to what caused the early deaths? Perhaps rough shipping scrambled them? The two eggs were closest to the fan in the bator, so maybe it was too hot in that area? Any thoughts? I want to save my other babies!

It could be any number of things, from temps to bacterial infection to just plain genetic abnormality. Sometimes eggs just up and quit, it's sadly not uncommon. Do you have a second thermometer? What I'd do is check the temps all around the bator to see if there is indeed a hot spot. 102 is the absolute high end even for still air bators so you really don't have a lot of wiggle room, if one part of the bator is warmer than the rest it could definitely cook the embryo inside.
