Hi All, just looking for some help, maybe.
This is my second go at duck eggs I lost my last two before lockdown.
We are on day 21 and have two good ducks egg and seeing plenty of movement. Should I candle then check everyday or wait now till lockdown?
What’s the best for the humidity to be on at this point? It’s sitting at 55% atm.
I’m so worried I’ll lose them again!

I only candle eggs twice the entire time; at one week into incubation, and prior to lockdown. You can do more, I just don't like opening the incubator anymore than I have to.

Lockdown is usually 3 days, and then humidity is upped to around 70% and don't open the incubator anymore until the ducklings are all hatched and fluffy.

Wishing you a great hatch!

I candle my eggs everyday
I don’t follow the lockdown rule of day 25 but go by my eggs instead
Sometimes lockdown is day 24 or day 26
When you see shadowing along the lower side of the air cell pushing into the membrane the egg may start rocking or rolling
The air cell will dip forward really fast
These 3 things are when I go into lockdown
I will still candle to look for internal pips but no longer pick the egg up leave it in place and candle
Once I see internal pip I stop candling
I have had many schools along with myself and other buyers candle daily and get 100% hatch rates
I have only lost the odd egg here and there
Good luck I hope they both hatch
Humidity I run 40-50% till lockdown then 70-75% to hatch
Make sure air vents are open

Thanks your help. I just over worrying as I don’t want to lose them at the last minute again. We are day 22 today. I’ll try get a picture later of what they currently look like. Xx

It hard to get decent pictures and didn’t want to leave them on the light too long. These are day 22 so they look ok? Seeing lots of movement in them x

Brilliant thank you. I don’t remember the air cell being much bigger than this last time so I’m assume the duck stopped growing around now. I’ll keep and eye on them and put them into lockdown on Thursday x

Lots of wobbling of the eggs today, should I stop turning them or wait till day 25? It’s day 23 today x

Sorry for all the questions I just want to do everything I can to get these two to hatch.
Lockdown is tomorrow, iv candled one last time tonight to make sure and still seeing movement in both, one more than the other but seeing movement still.
No internal pipping, should I continue to check till I can see ones pipped or lockdown and leave?
TIA
