Help please! I just found my little girl duck laying in the yard in a weird way. I thought she might have been attacked by some thing but she doesn’t have any wounds on her. She keeps doing this weird thrust thing and her vent area is sensitive but not swollen. She has a lot of excess discharge. A lot! She is also not pooping. She has not yet laid an egg but I’ve been expecting it soon. I took her to the vet and she is not egg bound. He said she seems fine but this is definitely abnormal.

@Srtaylor525 , how is your duck doing?
Unfortunately we had to leave town and have a sitter watching her and the rest of the animals. She’s being given antibiotics and a warm bath every night. Still alive. She was having small bowel movements when I left and was walking around. She’s alert and seemed better. I’ll reassess when we get home tomorrow.

Do you have any drakes? I mean the thrust thing made me wonder possibly Prolapsed Vent???? Please correct if I’m wrong more knowledgeable members.

My sweet girl passed away overnight. I’m not sure exactly what went wrong but we’re very sad and will miss her.

I am so sorry you lost her. I can't say what it may have been, Maybe an infection when the vet said no egg did he think she should be on an antibiotic?
He said she was fine and to just keep an eye on her. I gave her a very small dose of antibiotics as a precaution for infection but I don’t know what it could’ve been now.
