Duck for laying

Hi everyone I was wondering what the best breed of duck would be for laying eggs?

My vote is for indian runner, but as my runner and rouen are the first I've raised, I might just be parshal... Since mine started laying, she hasn't missed a day yet, and even layed (laid?) two her second day! I just wish the Rouen would finally start, as they are both 24 weeks old. The other upsides to runners is that they are terrific bug hunters, and just plain hilarious to watch. A bit noisy, however.

**as I finished typing this post, I looked up to notice my above mentioned runner in my garden, happily eating/ravaging my tomatoes. I may retract my post about the perks of runners. Sigh.

Khaki Cambell, while not huge and a bit high strung, are the very best duck for eggs. They can lay an egg a year, and outproduce chickens handily. Indian runners are good second choices for eggs. Now, the Khaki eggs are slightly greenish in tine, and the size of a large hen egg. Indians tend to be a little bigger eggs and white or cream color eggs. Now, I also like White Pekings, for their larger white eggs and calmer disposition. I keep all three types, and for egg production alone, if you don't plan to eat any ducks, I'd go with the Khakis. 2 females will give you 10 or more eggs a week usually.
