Help! We just moved our ducks outside and they cannot figure out how to use there ramp to get in and out of the pool. Should I change the set up or will they figure it out. We have added a small ramp into the house and they use it just fine.

Ducks will never be able to do a ramp that has slats like that - you need a solid surface that is easy to grip, that also is a very shallow climb if you have the larger breed ducks. They need a step to get out as well - you can use concrete blocks on the inside.

Ducks are not good on ramps at all The slope needs to be low and the ramp wide and smooth to have any chance of ducks using it.

In contrast ducks are good at hopping up steps and may fly down steps [even pekins can fly downhill from a top step!]

The only thing about steps is if you have heavy-weight birds, like Pekins, I worry about their legs. At least I always worried about my girls when they would try to get up my steps - I always tried to grab them and set them on the ground so they didn't hurt themselves. Light weight birds might be fine.

My great fat ducky lumps of muscovy drakes get up and down my back steps just fine [they are 14-15lbs] My regular sized pekins [7-8lbs] are very agile up and down the back steps.
