Really recently my pekin has gotten into this habit of trying to chase my Lab around and bite her ect. Usually my dog is pretty laid back about it, but today had had enough and turned around and tried to bite her.

I need to find a way to keep my pekin from acting aggressive towards my dog. Ive been keeping them apart but theres no way to keep them apart forever since they live in the same house. What is triggering this aggressive behavior from my duck? It's very all of the sudden- shes always seemed to like the dog since now. I'm scared that Piper will chase the dog and I wont be there to stop the dog from getting her

She's being territorial and I'm not sure there's much you can do other than keeping them separate unless you can supervise them. Or doing some training with your dog to ignore the behaviour. I'm not sure if you can train a duck not to chase as it is a natural behaviour to keep their nest safe. I don't have ducks but there sure are a lot of videos of dogs being chased by ducks!

Thank you

My two female ducks nip at our dogs so don't give up hope on eggs! However, one dog is too old and fluffy to care but the other gets excited and seems to want to "play" back. We haven't been able to train the duck but our dog we have trained to have great bite inhibition! I don't know how easy it would be to do with an adult dog, we raised her teaching her not to bite back; whether I'd be people, dogs, cats, or ducks. Our ducks are still in their bin beside our bed so the dogs can get away from the ducks, and the duck yard is strictly "no dogs allowed".

Does your Duck QUACK loud?.....If so its a Hen...If it has a raspy voice it's a Drake...
I had to get rid of my one Drake because he was attacking my little Dog and anything else that moved...I never keep aggressive animals...Way too many good ones to take their place....
Best of luck.....

Yes, she quacks so loud you can hear her down the street! :)

I'm having the same problem. My dog, Bean, raised my four ducks - see avatar. Now my drake, Clyde, is like a heat seeking missile. Today Bean was tired of being attacked and bit back. I've separated them for now, but no where in the yard is safe. Clyde will also leave his pond, come up the field, and hide by the porch stairs waiting for the dogs to come out! Bean is confused as he's very protective of everyone on the farm; these are his babies why would one have turned on him? This afternoon the hubby was looking up recipes for pâté de foie gras; what else can we do?

Very cute avatar. Even with the dog biting back, the duck didn't stop? Maybe your husband is on the right track.
:welcome
