My duck has been laying eggs fine for about two years now, she layed a perfect egg this morning when i let them out, but i just went up to see them and she had layed an egg with no shell!

Last night they were very disturbed by me being out in the garden every half hour with a new puppy! Could this be the reason??

If she laid this morning it's highly unlikely she laid a second egg in the same day. With that said, yes sometimes membrain eggs can be laid. A fluke in the ovaduct, diet change, or unknown reasons. I wouldn't be concerned unless they all are laid like this.

i only have the one female so i know its her thats laid.... i let them out at about 7am (checked the house & no egg) she went back into her house at around 7-30 for 15 mins & came back out, i went to check the house & she had laid an egg. then at 11-30 went up to take them some salad & saw that she had laid on the floor in the run (that was not there when i went up this morning) & it had no shell!

after lots of research ive found out that its quite common for a duck/chicken to lay an egg, then later that day lay a soft shell egg (because they cant produce the shell again) and apparantly stress can cause this to happen & they had a very disturbed night last night (hardley any sleep)

so hopefully its nothing to worry about & ill make sure i dont disturb them tonight

This is my first time having ducks and am finding them to be a great addition to the family. My question is that I have an 18 week old duck who laid an egg without a shell and then just the yolk. I have 2 others that have been laying fine eggs so I think their feed is ok. Is this normal?
When I have one do this I give them human oral calcium citrate pills, oral calcium gluconate, or injectable calcium gluconate (calcium gluconate is in the cattle section of feed stores). I don't recommend tums because it's the type of calcium that is not absorbed as easily.

The dose I give mine is about 50 mg per pound once or twice a day for a few days.
