Ive read through some of the injured duck threads and they were helpful, but my problem is a tad different.
A dog jumped in where my geese, ducks were and then my goslings/ducklings. Of the survivors one is not walking well but she seems to get better every day.
My issue is with one of the Cayuga ducklings and one of the Goslings. They are a month old. Just in that weird stage where they still have some baby feathers and started getting big kid feathers.
The gosling will not use one of its legs at all. I dont remember if its the he or she. It just drags that leg. Ive tried to see if there is a bone break and their doesnt seem to be. There is a puncture wound on the top of the thigh. Im sure thats causing the issue. When ot tries to move, it just drags the leg. These 2 goslings think im their mother. They chirp at me and want to be held so i really want to see if I can help it walk again. Im devastated that i lost the other. theres literally NO attempted motion in that leg. Not even to swim. Im sure we have metacam somewhere. Any other ways to help would be appreciated.
2. The Cayuga is not using legs at all. Where the blue swede tried to limp along, this one doesnt even try. Range of motion is ok, but she wont even use tbem to swim. I have her close to food and water and she eats and drinks like a champ. I dont see any punctures, wounds or anything. I dont see swelling or any of that, but she moves by using her beak and wing right now. Yeah I know cull, but im so devastated losing all of my ducklings and young chickens i just cant.
Ideas at home would be appreciated. We just cant afford to take them to the t
Vet. There are almost vets ariund here that do birds and the onky one that DOES is outlandish and insanely expensive.
any ideas would be appreciated!
