Howdy!

Got home from an errand and saw that one of my young magpie hens is limping/favoring one leg. I scooped her up and examined her legs and feet- no obvious injuries, cuts, breaks, etc.

Any ideas? Could leg injuries be caused during mating? She's not laying yet but has started to mate with the drakes I have and my drake to hen ratio is a little off (working on remedying that).

I have her in a kennel in the coop at the moment so she's not running around straining herself further, but don't want to isolate her and cause her more stress.

Help, please! And thank you! :bow

Yes- learned that the hard way with a dog of mine :lau:lau

Thank you!!! Should I keep her confined for a few days? My crew keeps going in the coop and checking on her :love

I would keep her confined for a few days, just to make sure it doesn't get worse and does get better, before going back to 'romping around'...

Glad they are checking on her, that is positive influence! :love

Wanted to update- did an epsom bath last night and then tonight I let her out for a bit to see if limping had subsided. She isn't limping anymore- waddling away like her usual sassy self!

Thanks again! :love:clap:wee
