Hi all

my 3 year old duck has a limp. He’s Had it for a few weeks now. I’ve checked for bumble foot had a very small scab on the other leg which was treated and sorted. The limping leg was clear. I’ve been adding brewers yeast to the food incase of a deficiency and still no better?
Do I need to let the yeast work a bit longer or?
Any ideas of what else it could be would be great if not then possible trip to the vet ☹️
thanks!

Could you upload a video of your duck walking to youtube, and copy/paste the link here? Does the leg feel warm, any swelling?

his leg looks slightly thicker than the other perhaps? I’ll try and get a video later but it’s currently raining hard so might have to wait! Lol

I got a picture of his ankle which seems fairly puffy and hot he’s starting to struggle now. So I’m thinking it might be a trip to the vet

Yeah. I think maybe he needs some anti inflammatory or something that can go in his water. I’m slightly worried that it might not be solveable 😞☹️

Hi, there! :frow

Just checking in to see how your bird is doing. Updates to these type of threads are quite useful for people in the future experiencing the same problem.

Hi

we tried anti inflammatory which worked for about a week but then it came back. He was hardly walking just sat there most of the time. Another trip to the vet and we decided the best thing was to let him go. It wasn’t fair on him to just be sat there and in pain all day. I’m gutted but I think I made the right decision 😞. His friend has gone to a new home with plenty of girls and I see him quite often and he’s happy as anything so all is well

thanks for everyone’s advise and support it was really helpful 👍
