Hi guys,

I have noticed my duck limping the last couple of days. I looked at her feet today and noticed what look like two big boils or injuries on one foot. What is this? Pic added.

Thanks in advance,
Hilary

This is bumblefoot or a staph infection. You want to soak in Epsom salt water, apply neosporin, and wrap with vet wrap. Continue at least 2 times a day for a week or until the plug is easy to remove.
Once you remove the plug pack with neosporin and wrap. Change the wrap daily. It can take weeks to heal. Keep the duck dry until healed. Wear gloves as you can get staph from the infection.

Agree with everything said above. You can also get an antibiotic to treat it. You can get enrofloxacin, the generic of baytril, without a prescription here. It will help prevent the infection from going systemic.

With pekin, I would also suggest in investing in duck booties. They help a ton with the healing process. If you decide to get some, Krazy k farms ships pretty quickly.
