Hi we have been traveling since the beginning of February till now from Washington State from before the first Corona BS happened there and are now in Baja Mexico for a funeral but had to keep our birds with someone in Santa Rosa, CA because of the thirty day quarentine rules for birds in and out of Mexico and USA. One mallard duck has developed feather loss on his chest and we have been told by family to stay in Mexico during this Corona insanity but our birds need some help. The person watching them is a bit overwhelmed with animals and can't seem to take the best care of them. Or keep clean water in their pen. Is anyone near Santa Rosa, CA that could help them? Can anyone tell me why he's losing all these feathers for the last month over time? Can someone help our birds while we are in Mexico? Heard borders are closing and our home state is going psycho with basically martial law and 1984 social distancing laws.

:welcome So sorry this is happening and your going to be separated from your ducks and your home. As for the feather loss 2 things come to mind molt or external parasites. Mites or lice. I live in the Eastern part of US can’t help with care but you may get some one if you go to “where am I where are you” and look up southern CA. Ask there for help. If this is molt he should be through and signs of new feathers should be coming in if it’s a parasite they will need to be treated along with all the birds he has been in contact with plus their living quarters. Do they have swimming water? If not ask that it be given to them bathing is very important to waterfowl it helps keep their feathers in prime shape and also can keep parasites off of them.

Remain calm, whoever sent you those texts is totally overreacting. Trump has not done any such thing. In fact, he wants each state to deal with their own problems because he recognizes that California has different needs than say Alabama. He's working closely with the governors of each state, including yours, to ensure that they will have all the federal help and advice for whatever they feel they need. So don't panic about that.

You can panic that your governor might do all that! Yes, the Canadian border got closed this morning. Right now the Mexican border isn't closed so you can still get home. I think that window of opportunity may be closing soon though so you've got a decision to make!
