I am a first time duck owner. My ducks are 3 1/2 months old. I have 2 drakes (Pekins) and 1 female mallard. I know my ratio is off. So far everything is fine. However we are going on vacation in a couple weeks and I don’t know if I should be worried about my female or not. So far it’s a lot of the flirting but all are good to each other. I have someone coming by each day when we are gone. Do you think they will be ok?

No, you need to get more females! One drake should have 5-6 females! If the drakes are mating they could hurt the female!

I’d not leave swimming water out 2 pekin drakes just play mating could drown a Mallard female. Just leave containers out that have plenty of water for dunking heads that way the little Mallard will be safe while your gone. And defiantly get more females 3 and up is your best ratio this is per drake

They don’t seem to be mating yet. I am going to get more females but will have to wait until I get back from vacation. I do notice sometimes when they are in the water she gets out. It’s a kiddie pool. I will do what you said. Thank you so much.

Enjoy your vacation!
