I had found a few mouse parts in the mini duck pen (I keep plugging the holes, and the whole thing has hardware wire wrapped on all 6 sides). I was dumping pool and cleaning and she darts out faster than a speeding bullet and grabs this mouse and just chews on it's head and neck, I hear it squeaking and she just goes to town on it. I meanwhile have my spagetti scoop I use to get dead mouse bodies and feather gunk that clogs up the hardware cloth so the water can drain , and find two more dead mouse bodies and chuck them over the fence .....(to feed the local fawna) ..... and then she drop-s it and runs over to the water and just dunks her head.... I chuck the mouse and say,"Twinkie, you are one tough little duck!" ...She is a pretty mini-Overberg from Holderreads, who also is a great broody.......Think if I ever sell her eggs or babies I should charge more for her "mousing abilities".....they could be house mousers, and house 'de-buggers'.....

Can I order a couple of these mousing ducks I need them. Since my cats are to lazy to catch the mice.

My ducks kill mice too!

I had a dog-crate of juvenile ducklings in the garage once, and I saw one of their heads dart out of the crate and grab a mouse, which they all then fought over, killed, chewed on for awhile, and then spit out. I find chewed up mouse parts in my adult duck ponds and waterers sometimes too.

Wow! I think that having ducks that dispatch vermin sounds like a good selling point! I haven't seen mine kill any. Once, there was a drowned mouse floating in their swim pan, and a duck grabbed it by its tail and flung it several feet away, without fanfare. (c:

I would totally buy some!

I could always use some more mouse hunters. Though my cats do a pretty good job. They dont get every single one. At least i would know there wouldnt be a little mouse in my coop trying to make a nest.

The are always getting in my chicken coop and stealing all the hay. And feed!

My chickens kill the mice. But one time last summer in my duck pool I found a chipmunk... I dont know which mighty duck killed that!

My ducks and geese kill things like that all the time. More so the goosey girls but the ducks don't deal with mice in their area...lol

One time the goosey girls were out grazing in their favorite grazing spot and next thing I knew they were fighting over something and shreading it to bits...I go over to see what it is. It has a little bunny nest they had just killed the mommy and were about to kill the baby's to.... Silly things. But I love love love them

Wow, when I hear about ducks killing things, I worry about the poor little killdeer chicks that hatch near them. I have photos of little baby killdeer running between the wild mallards last year and nothing happened to them. Thank goodness the ducks seemed more concerned about sleeping and preening than catching things.

But, I think it's great that they catch little vermin like mice.

I had a khaki that chased squirrels. She never caught and killed one, but she sure kept them out of the yard. I sure miss her! LOL
